WAIT LET ME ELABORATE ON THIS A BIT, I DON’T THINK I EXPLAINED IT PROPERLY, WHAT THE FUCK AM I TALKING ABOUT
I haven’t had enough sleep. I don’t know what I’m saying.
Basically the reason these offensive Arkh Project jokes are cropping up is, as far as I can see, because they’re mocking what the Arkh Project itself is doing. That is, the authors of this scam have no interest in or understanding of Poc or queer issues at all and the people making these offensive jokes are portraying the attitudes of the authors.
They’re not making HURR HURR PEOPLE OF COLOUR DURR QUEERS jokes. They’re illustrating the authors’ view of PoC and queers.
That’s why it’s (supposed to be) funny. Just imagine that every time you see one it has THIS IS WHAT THE AUTHORS OF THE ARKH PROJECT ACTUALLY BELIEVE flashing at the bottom in big bold text and it will all make perfect sense.
If you want to be angry or sickened by someone, try directing that rage at the authors of this fucking scam. They’ve stolen - and are still stealing, I would imagine - the money of people who actually want to help and support PoC and queer rights and equal representation. They’re the fucking assholes here.
even if it’s supposed to be facetious, a lot of the jokes really toe the line
yes, they’re bigger assholes for taking money under the guise of apparent charity, but doesn’t make some of the jokes being put out there any better
like, one of my friends who’s perfectly okay with my sexuality would call me fag every so often. at first, I didn’t mind, but after a while, it really did seem like he was putting me down with that word (especially since he would try to paint my feminine characteristics as bad). a joke is a joke, but if it goes on too long, it does lose the comedic edge and all that’s left is pretty shitty stuff that could hurt people
Sage hits my feelings on the head. I chuckled the first time that shit popped up. And then it happened again, and it was less funny. Then it happened again…and again, and now that shit just makes me wonder the motives. I think it’s gone the point of satire and just makes me feel uncomfortable and annoyed.
