Wow.
Granted blackface stick figures are never in good taste… it’s more of just a very crass way of underlining a larger point; that being the Arkh Project is just about as sensitive as the games that it says it’s rebelling against.
Which is not sensitive at all.
Because idealized yaoi-esque master/slave romance, cleavage-baring transmen and a Japanese character wearing traditional Chinese garb is pretty goddamned offensive.
I’ve read those posts pointing out those things you mentioned, by the way. I’ve read the post that revealed the art theft too. Those were great criticisms that exposed that there’s things going on with the project that is downright hypocritical. I made me certainly think twice, and they lost my support, and the support of many others, I’m sure, because of those informative posts.
The jokes, though, are just really getting in some very bad taste territory that does more harm than good the longer people make them. It’s kinda like with general internet memes where the longer people keep making the same sort of joke, the more it loses it’s meaning/effectiveness, and then it just turns into shit, ya know. Except in this case, that shit can easily become harmful toward people it’s trying to protect.
